Obama once said at a fundraiser in San Fransisco…

“And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

He is talking about how the Clinton and Bush administration has done nothing for small towns in Pennsylvanian and the Midwest. And that their unemployment rates are on the rise. He then makes the comment that when people are bitter, they cling to their guns and the religion. I think he is right. When people don’t like the way the government is being run, they turn to guns and to religion.
