Angel Baby

Over the last few months, I have learned exactly how hard it is to try to do everything the Lord asks of you and not expect him to help you out while doing it.  One of my big struggles with religion I would say is Faith.  I know that there is a creator, that things were planned and created and did not happen just by chance, but I find I have a hard time letting my pride go and actually rely on the Lord for help.  This blog post may sound different from other posts, but this one I am …

How far they have come….

Albert Sydney Herlong, Jr (Feb 1909 – Dec 1995) U.S. Representative from Florida (Jan 1967 – Jan 1969)

Albert S. Herlong, Jr was a US Representative for the 4th district in Florida from 1967-1969.   On Jan 10, 1963 he read to the house by the request of a Mrs. Nordman a list of “Current Communist Goals,”  this list was taken from a book called, “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen.  If you would like to see a complete list, you can find it at: http://rense.com/general32/americ.htm.  I am only going to list of few of them here to open …

The Constitution: A Heavenly Banner

I have recently been reading a  book entitled, “The Constitution: A Heavenly Banner“.  This book is a collection of Constitutional relates speeches by Ezra Taft Benson, David O. McKay, J. Reuben Clark, Jr. and Bruce R. McConkie.

The book gets its name from a speech by Ezra Taft Benson given at the Marriot Center at Brigham Young University on September 16, 1986.  I would like to talk about this speech, and give what I feel are the bullet points or highlights of the speech.  You can get a copy of the speech in HTML, or MP3 format by following …

All is well in Zion… Stop being a pessimist.

Nephi’s Broken Bow by Jeremy Winborg

ONE of the principles that is taught in the Book of Mormon, and in modern teachings is that of,  “liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning.” (1 Nephi 19:23).   Ezra Taft Benson in April of 1984 tells us to:  “We urge you to study the Book of Mormon as individuals and families and then to do as the prophet Nephi counseled: liken the scriptures to yourselves so that it will be for your profit and learning.”

To liken the scriptures to yourself is to compare them to

To vote or not to vote, that has NEVER been the question.

To vote or not to vote, that has NEVER been the question.  I have always maintained, and will always maintain that voting should NEVER be a question.  I care more that you vote, and that you vote for who you believe will do the best job, then you vote the way I WANT YOU TO VOTE.  In order for this Republic (and yes, America is a republic), it is important that the population of voters care enough to vote and vote for who they think best aligns themselves with their morals and view points.

If you don’t vote, then you …

“Under God…”

I was asked by a facebook friend the following questions on facebook the other day, and it made me think, I did not have a good answer as to why it was so bad, and such a big deal.

Why are we making political hay about the DNC and adding back in the words “in God we trust”?  Seriously help me see the value of focusing on it?  Clearly we know there are people out there who dont want God in politics and others who do.  Grasping to see the value of all the talk.

I had already started a …

Weeds….

Weed: The term weed is a subjective one, without any classification value, since a plant that is a weed in one context is not a weed when growing where it belongs or is wanted. Indeed, a number of plants that many consider “weeds”, are often intentionally grown by people in gardens or other cultivated-plant settings.  [Source]

When Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden for eating of the fruit from the tree they were told not to eat from there were several things that happened.  They then knew the difference from good and evil, they could …

Weapons of their rebellion.

I have posted before about the Traditions of Fathers in several posts: Traditions of their fathers. and Iniquity of their fathers.  I would like to continue this discussion a little, and then add an additional thought to it as well.   In Sunday School, the lesson was on Alma 23-29 (Lesson 26: Converted unto the Lord).

The teacher forwarded me some material that she wanted me to discuss with the class.  In that material, it included this quote by Spencer W. Kimball.

Down in New Zealand, I was the recipient of many courtesies while there. They sang and danced and rolled

Temptation Vs Sin

This is one of the biggest things that I think causes issued with people of the Mormon faith.  And I would say it also causes problems with most Christian faiths as well.  That is the difference between Temptation and Sin.

For most of my life, I was under the impression that Temptation was Sin.  If you were tempted to do something, then you had actually sinned in some way.  I think that it comes from several scriptures, as well as other peoples teachings.  In Matthew 5:28 it says, “That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her had committed …

Amlicites, Amalekites, and Amulonites amoung us.

In the Book of Mormon there is reference to groups of people that at one time were Nephites and members of the Church of God and then for some reason they left the Church and openly rebelled against it.   I am not talking about people that just left the Church, but people who left the Church and then did whatever they could to try to ruin the Church and its members.

These people were so filled with hatred for members of the Church that they were even put in charge of the armies of those that opposed the Church in …
