The Family: A Proclamation to the World

Angel Baby

Over the last few months, I have learned exactly how hard it is to try to do everything the Lord asks of you and not expect him to help you out while doing it.  One of my big struggles with religion I would say is Faith.  I know that there is a creator, that things were planned and created and did not happen just by chance, but I find I have a hard time letting my pride go and actually rely on the Lord for help.  This blog post may sound different from other posts, but this one I am …

Men of their word

In the Book of Mormon, Nephi and his brothers are asked by their father Lehi to return to Jerusalem to get some things they needed for their journey in the wilderness.  In the process they meet a man named Zoram.  He was about to run away from them and to tell everyone about them.  But they asked him to join their group in the wilderness.   Here is what it says he did: “And it came to pass that aZoram did take courage at the words which I (Nephi) spake. Now Zoram was the name of the servant; and he …

President Packer said WHAT?

There has been a lot of “wars, and rumors of wars” over what President Boyd K Packer said in the Oct 2010 General Conference about the stance the Church has on Homosexuality.  The wars have started because of a talk entitled, “Cleansing the Inner Vessel.“  In that talk President Packer says:

Muskogee OK??

Why a trip to Muskogee OK?   I have been asked that a few times in the last week or so, so here is the answer.  I can only think of a few things in my life that I regret doing.  One of them happened almost three years ago.  I had a Vasectomy.   Aimee and I after having our first boy and fifth child had the procedure done.  It was a mistake.  After talking about it we both came to the conclusion that neither of us really felt good about it.  But both of us were relying on the other to …

The Sacred Responsibilities of Parents – M. Russell Ballard

I have recently been trying to listen to/read more talks by LDS Church leaders.  And I have found this really cool website, http://speeches.byu.edu/.  This website has most if not all of the speeches given at BYU over the years.  I was able to pick up 6 years worth in book format for only $20.00.

The talk I wanted to talk a little bit about in this post is called “The Sacred Responsibilities of Parents” by M. Russell Ballard, give during Education Week on August 19, 2003.

Elder Ballard first talks about “The Family: A Proclamation to the World“.  He had …
